The Tennessee Supreme Court has granted a temporary stay for East Tennessee death row inmate, just 80 hours before he was scheduled to be executed.
Stephen Michael West, 48 was due to die Tuesday night of lethal injection for the 1986 torture, rape and murders of Wanda Romines and her 15 year-old daughter Shelia in Union County. Prosecutors have called it the most brutal case in county history.
In August, attorneys for the death row inmate filed a new appeal claiming Tennessee’s procedure for conducting lethal injection violated the 8th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution which offers protection against “cruel and unusual punishment.”
People like this should be put to death the same way they put their victims to death....brutally!!!!
