| Subject: ENTITLEMENT CULTURE CREATED IN AMERICA! Mon 03 Jan 2011, 9:48 am | |
| This is not helping those that need help......instead, creates an entitlement culture in America … Look at a one-parent household of three. If this parent works full time at a minimum-wage job they will earn $14,500 a year and they will pay not one penny of income tax to the federal government. The $14,500 isn't the end of it. They will have to pay for child care and payroll taxes. They are now left with just a few thousand dollars. But start adding all of their entitlements like Earned Income Tax Credit, Food Stamps, the school lunch program, Medicaid and CHIP, her Section 8 rent subsidy; and utility bill assistance. When you add it all up our minimum wage single parent of two has nearly $38,000 of disposable income. Now ... let's look at a single parent of two earning $60,000. They, too, have to pay payroll taxes, child care but no federal income tax. But ... they will not get Earned Income Tax Credit, no food stamps, no Section 8, no CHIP and Medicaid, and no help with her utility bills. In the end her disposable income (after taxes and child care) is about $34,400. So .. there you go. The minimum wage single mom has more disposable income than the single mom earning $60K a year. http://boortz.com |
