My thinking on this entire subject is that 2012 has been twisted and tossed into a mess of confusion exactly like every other subject in the paranormal. I think most of what I have read concerning 2012 is ridiculous and the following is another example......The Book of Mormons and the 2012 Predictions....
**It is believed that a list of 2 million names has been made by the Mormons. They are stored on 2.4 million microfilm rolls that are kept in climate controlled repository behind a door that weighs 14 tons. Nothing can destroy the repository, not even a nuclear explosion. *The purpose of this list could be to use this during the Baptism of the Dead. This is a ceremony practiced by the Mormons which is believed to reunite the dead eternally. This brings together family members after death.
Untwisting the mess of confusion..........*Why Baptism for the Dead?
In John 3:5 Jesus taught that "Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God."
Mormons believe that baptism is necessary for anyone to go to the celestial kingdom.
There are many people who have lived and died without ever knowing about Jesus Christ or the essential ordinance of baptism, and many others have been baptized without valid priesthood authority. (Mormons believe that priesthood authority was lost from the earth thousands of years ago and then restored to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in 1829.)
**Mormon Baptisms for the Dead
One of the reasons the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is so interested in genealogy is to create an orderly system for vicarious baptism for the dead.
There are church genealogy databases, but members of the church are encouraged to find their ancestors and make sure that ordinance work is done on their behalf.
The Church also operates one of the most popular genealogical services on the Internet free of charge at www.familysearch.org.....@....https://www.familysearch.org/
The site contains a billion names from over 110 counties and territories including the 1880 United States Census, the 1881 Canadian Census, the 1881 British Census, the Ellis Island database and the Freedman’s Bank Records. However, most of the Church’s vast collection of genealogical resources is yet to come online. The Church is undertaking a massive digitization project to bring most of the additional collection of the Family History Library online over the next few years.
