2 1/2 cups uncooked regular oats
1 cup butter or margarine, softened
1 cup granulated sugar
1 cup firmly packed light brown sugar
2 large eggs
1 tablespoon vanilla extract
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 1/2 cups coarsely chopped pecans
4 (1.55-ounce) milk chocolate candy bars, chopped (or substitute 1 1/2 to 2 cups milk chocolate chips)
Beat butter, granulated sugar and light brown sugar together at medium speed with an electric mixer until fluffy.
Add eggs and vanilla. Beat until blended.
Process oats in a blender or food processor until ground.
Combine ground oats, flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt .
Add to butter mixture, beating until blended.
Stir in pecans and chocolate.
Drop dough by tablespoonfuls onto ungreased baking sheet.
Bake at 375° for 8 to 10 minutes.
