Wheatberries found in the tombs of the pharaohs
in Egypt and examined still contained the full range of vitamins and
minerals, over 2000 years after it had been harvested!

I love home made bread (especially sourdough with the wife's home made
starter) and other baked products made with hand ground flour (from
wheatberries) ground ...@ home... because of the nutrition and taste,
plus it saves money.

You cannot beat the great flavour of 100% fresh milled flour made into
homemade bread or any other type of baked goods. The health benefits
from eating whole grains are ….. you reduce the risk of some forms of
cancer, digestive system diseases, coronary heart disease, diabetes, and
obesity.

Although all-purpose flour in America is nearly always enriched, it has
only a fraction of the food value of the whole wheat kernel. Over thirty
nutrients are know to exist in the wheatberries, and most of them are
removed in the milling process. The bran and wheat germ that has been
removed and given to the animal industry. Here is North America we have
the healthiest pigs and the sickest people.

When milling your own flour you know that your family is getting all of
these essential nutrients and fibre included with nothing added and
nothing taken away.

Here is a list of the nutrition in wheatberries....
*Thaimin, *riboflavin, pyridozine, protein, pantothenic acid, *niacin,
barium, silver, inositol, folic acid, choline, vitamin E, boron,
silicon, sodium,chlorine, calcium,*iron, phosphorous, magnesium,
potassium, manganese, copper, sulphur, iodine, and fluorine.

Compare the above list to store bought enriched white flour....ADDED...
one mineral..... *iron
3 vitamins....... *niacin, *thiamin, and *riboflavin.

Uncooked wheatberries
Wheatberries cooking - soaked then sauteed with spring onionThe term wheatberry or wheat berry refers to the entire wheat kernel (except for the hull), comprising the bran, germ, and endosperm. Wheatberries have a tan to reddish brown color and are available as either a hard or soft processed grain. They are often added to salads or baked into bread to add a crunchy texture; as a whole grain, they also provide nutritional benefits since they are an excellent source of dietary fiber.

Wheatberries are the primary ingredient in an Eastern European Christmas porridge called kutya.
I had not heard that term before.

Wheatberries are the whole wheat seed that comes from the plant.

We have wheatberries in the basement (our food storage) that are 12 Years old and have grind (some of) them and use them for homemade bread that is out of sight in favor!!!
