Gasoline | Americans consume petroleum products at a rate of three-and-a-half gallons of oil and more than 250 cubic feet of natural gas per day each! But, as shown here petroleum is not just used for fuel. Return |

| So true. But government mandate did not fuel (no pun) the oil industry, so too "we" cannot pass laws to "go green."
Using the force of government to accomplish a social or political goal is always dicey at best; that tactic simply never works economically.
When the oil runs out, entrepreneurs will dream up another fuel source and we will either reward them with our money or punish them by withholding it. |

The thing is, with the law of supply & demand, when/if the oil runs out and everyone is using propane, it will be expensive. Heck, it's pretty expensive right now. It's obviously more expensive than gasoline, otherwise that invisible hand would be gently shoving us all in that direction, away from gasoline. |

We use propane for some cooking (four burner top in center isle) and some home heating (supplements wood stove) and water heating! It is a hell of a lot cheaper than electricity for both. I will be replacing the wife's electric range ...with a propane one.....when it gives up..it is on it last legs because it is 20+years old and she keeps complaining about it. The clothes dryer is the next to go propane! The clothes dryer and water heater is the largest consumption of energy in the average home and natural gas is the cheapest way to go.... but it is not available here..... half way up a mountain in the Cherokee National Forest! |
