Speech Recognition Feature in Windows Seven Empty
PostSubject: Speech Recognition Feature in Windows Seven   Speech Recognition Feature in Windows Seven EmptySat 28 Jan 2012, 9:14 am

Desktop Computer

The Speech Recognition feature in Windows Seven allows you to input data into a document using speech rather than a keyboard or a mouse. The Speech Recognition feature has been around for a while now, but Microsoft has improved its functionality in Windows Seven.

You will have to attach a desktop microphone or headset to your computer.

Laptop

If typing is challenging on your laptop, you can set up Windows Seven for speech recognition and speak commands instead. While setting up Speech Recognition on your laptop, you train Windows to understand your speech pattern so that you can communicate effectively with it.

If your laptop doesn’t have a built-in microphone (most do), plug a headset with a microphone into your laptop headset ports.

NOTE: Do not use the laptop's built-in microphone or a desktop microphone. Use a headset microphone, with a noise-cancelling mic., and preferably a headset that plug into the USB.

To see how setup and use Speech Recognition see the three links below...........

http://www.dummies.com/how-to/content/how-to-set-up-speech-recognition-in-windows-7.html

What can I do with Speech Recognition?

You can use your voice to control your computer or laptop. You can say commands that the computer will respond to, and you can dictate text to the computer.

Before you get started using Windows Speech Recognition, you'll need to connect a microphone to your computer. Once you've got the microphone set up, you can train your computer to better understand you by creating a voice profile that your computer uses to recognize your voice and spoken commands. For information about setting up your microphone, see Set up your microphone for Speech Recognition.

After you've got your microphone and voice profile set up, you can use Speech Recognition to do the following:

Control your computer. Speech Recognition listens and responds to your spoken commands. You can use Speech Recognition to run programs and interact with Windows. For more information about the commands you can use with Speech Recognition, see Common commands in Speech Recognition.

Dictate and edit text. You can use Speech Recognition to dictate words into word-processing programs or to fill out online forms in a web browser. You can also use Speech Recognition to edit text on your computer. For more information about dictating text, see Dictate text using Speech Recognition.

Windows Vista and Win Seven comes with built-in speech recognition and dictation software called Windows Speech Recognition (WSR).

I can recommend Windows Vista and Win Seven ….Windows Speech Recognition (WSR).
I have a friend who has one massive and several minor strokes. After the first massive stroke he was paralyzed on the whole left side of his body. He now can walk with the use of a cane, but his left arm and hand are still useless. He has a laptop with Win Seven and he wanted me to see if I could get Windows Speech Recognition (WSR) to work on it (which I was able to accomplish on 17 Feb 2012). I am impressed Win Seven WSR.

Win Seven.. Windows Speech Recognition (WSR) can do the following and I must say it does it well....

*Controlling Windows.....WSR not just for dictating to a word processor. WSR can control Windows and other programs too.

**Dictation ...Word Processors programs and emails

***Controls Internet Explorer and FireFox.......Navigating the internet by speech commands is shown using IE and Firefox.

The above is three of twelve things WSR can do. To see all WSR is capable of …..go to (these are video tutorials)......
