According to the Social Security Administration....there was no cost-of-living increase for Social Security beneficiaries, in 2010, because consumer prices had fallen. Is this statement true?? Look at the following information...and decide for yourself!.....

First.....
The Social Security Administration uses a part of the Consumer Price Index known as the CPI-W, which measures spending patterns of blue-collar workers. Social Security payments have been linked to the CPI-W for more than three decades.

Next.....
What is consumer price index (CPI)?
A consumer price index (CPI) measures changes in the price level of consumer goods and services purchased by households.

What are consumer-goods?
Goods, such as food and clothing, that satisfy human wants through their direct consumption or use.

Look at the following chart to see some price changes between Dec 09 and Dec 10.....
I believe that 7 out of the 12 items on the chart are use or consumed by everyone.....daily! Does that not make them consumer goods?
